Yohimbe is derived from the bark of an evergreen tree that grows in parts of Africa. This tree is currently considered endangered. This is because of increased demand due to it’s aphrodisiac affects. Many governments have have declared it a prescribed species.
The tree that yohimbe is derived from has been in Africa for thousands of years and has been used by local tribes for about as long as an aphrodisiac. Because of this the Federal Food and Drug administration has classed it as ‘potentially unsafe.’ The side effects of taking yohimbe have been reported as heart palpitations, dizziness, increased blood pressure, insomnia even seizures in some people.
Yohimbe should not be taken with any kind of prescription medication.
